This project was inspired by something I found online but in the end I made it very unique. I used regular acrylic paint to make the background and initially I wasn't very happy with it. It was turning out more purple than blue for my liking so I had to problem solve quite a bit to make it how I wanted it. It still appears to be a little bit flat so I know to work on that next time. After painting the background and the elephant, I was kind of left in a slump. I didn't know what I wanted to do with the piece and I was left grasping at nothing basically. Finally, I was given the idea by my art teacher to use the big blue beads as water coming out of the trunk. I knew I wanted to do something like this but I didn't really know how to achieve it. I worked with new materials to create a more 3D piece than what I was used to. After discovering the blue beads to use on the background, I went a step further and found smaller pieces to use on top of the elephant to give it the same sort of feel as the water. I'm really happy with the skills that I developed and the way I was able to collaborate with my teacher and my peers directly to make a piece that I am very satisfied with.
