This project was made as a Christmas present for my grandmother. I knew I wanted to do something with a cardinal since they have a special meaning for my family, so this is the project that I decided to do. I began with a very very light colored background and built off of it from there. To create the branches in the background, I watered down the blue paint to make sure they would be lighter than those in the foreground, giving the piece a greater feeling of depth. This concept was brought to my attention by one of my peers who helped me throughout the whole project. I was introduced to new methods of creating art and I was taking risks continuously. I was very nervous to paint each layer because I was nervous I would mess up the previous layer but in the end, I went into everything head on and the outcome really benefited from the collaboration and the risk taking and problem solving that this project contained.
